Three of Toronto’s up and coming young lawyers are organizing an “unconference” to help bridge the gap between the tech and legal communities. The event is set to encourage the exchange of ideas and knowledge between the two.
The unconference concept comes from Pod Camp Toronto, which was well received earlier this year.
lawTechcamp engages and compels attendees to fully participate in discussions on the latest tech and law topics – adult learning at its best! Mitch Kowalski>
As a legal tech entrepreneur, I enjoy being part of a new, thriving community of Toronto-area people interested in law and technology. I helped create lawTechcamp so that this community could interact in new, exciting ways, hopefully with creative, useful and no doubt unpredictable results. Monica Goyal
Monica Goyal approached me with the idea of doing an “unconference” for the legal space, sort of bringing the concept barcamp to the legal profession. Since we are both engineers as well as lawyers, the idea of a camp that drew both the tech and the legal communities into the same space and encouraged dialog between them really appealed to us. Mitch Kowalski, who also shares an interest in technology and its influence on the legal industry was a natural choice as the third co-organizer. We’re very excited about lawTechcamp and have an exciting panel of sessions that will hopefully get both the tech and the legal communities discussing how they can assist each other. Sapna Mahboobani
This event, scheduled for Saturday June 18, 2011 in Toronto, is completely free and you can register online at the lawTechcamp website
So there you have it – a brilliant idea moved forward by a small group of Canadian lawyers.
